Hey guys, I got my ACT score back last week and got a 30. Does this score give me a decent chance of being accepted? My GPA is a 3.65, but at the end of this semester it should be a 3.72 because I'm about positive I will have all A's. I know UGA likes to see course rigor. I will have 6APs by the time I graduate. The ret are honors classes. As far as my ECs go, I have done varsity swim the past 2 years (I should be captain next year too), I am in NHS, friends club, the president of my schools mountain bike club, and am one of two youth members on the GA fly fishing team. I think those are decent, but I'm going to really try to get involved this summer and next year. Now, back to the ACT. I know a 30 is a decent score, but I'm not sure enough it's good enough to balance out my lower GPA. I also have a 1930 on the SAT if that means much. Would you guys suggest that I retake?

That’s a good ACT score, but your GPA is on the lower end.

[Advice about the UGA Admission Process: A First Look at 2013 Admitted Freshmen Credentials](<data:blog.pageTitle/>)

Here is this year’s profile. Current trends show that average SAT score of an accepted student increases by roughly 20-30 points every year. The GPA went up from 3.86 to 3.91. The average number of AP/IB/duel enrollment courses is 6.

That being said, you’re still in the middle to lower end of the admission spectrum. You have fairly strong ECs. Other factors such as personal statement, letters of recommendations, AP exam scores and grade trend also have a play in admissions.

Good luck!

Thanks for the reply! Do any of you guys think I have a decent chance at getting in? Or has anybody with similar stats to mine been accepted/denied? Thanks in advance!

It can’t hurt to retake the ACT. Study for it over the summer and take it in Sept. If the score is higher all the better , if not just send the 30. Also remember that UGA recalculates your gpa by only using core classes. Is that the gpa you are using?

I know plenty of kids that are in-state with a GPA of around a 3.2 and SAT scores of 1300-1500/2400 who get in. It is NOT difficult to get in in-state in my opinion based on the kids that get in that I know.

Yes that is my core GPA. I’m definitely gonna study and retake it but I think a 30 should do me well.

Also, my unweighted is now a 3.73 and my UGA GPA is a 3.82. How good of a shot do you guys think that gets me?
