Should I retake the ACT?

I have doled out my fair share of advice on this subject area, so it seems a bit weird for me to be asking all of you this, but I do need advice on the subject.

Should I retake the ACT?

On both my April and June sittings, I got a 33 composite. April was 34E, 31M, 34R, 32S; June was 35E, 33M, 34R, 29S, and 11W. I know that a 33 is considered by most to be a great score, and I would agree. However, that science subscore is really bothering me. It is unfathomable to me that I dropped a whole 3 points. Normally, I'd accept a drop, but not when I got below a 30 for a subscore.

I therefore come to you for advice. Would it be advisable to retake the ACT, in September? I plan on applying to Vanderbilt (ED), NYU, UIUC, possibly Georgetown, and maybe another school. Would it be to my benefit to try and raise it to a 34, or should I take an academic break this summer, and focus on writing college essays?

Retake it, chances are you’ll be able to get that science score up. Good luck! :D

I’ve actually been thinking about it. Would it be a good idea to take the SAT, to see if I do well on that?

It would not hurt to take the SAT because of course it does not have science. I took the may sat and got a 2300, and then the june act and got a 34 (which I felt lucky about)… science threw me off a little too! But I think the SAT is definitely stronger for me, maybe it would be for you too.

I have a strong vocabulary, and I always do awesome with reading and English questions. Many say that SAT Math is different, and is more logic based, which would also be good for me. I’ll definitely look into it!
