Should I retake the ACT?

Okay...here are my scores from the two times I've taken it.

April 2006 (June 2006)
English: 28 (25) -3
Math: 26 (32) +6
Reading: 29 (33) +4
Science: 28 (33) +5
Combined English/Writing: 28...10 essay (don't know yet)
Composite: 28 (31) +3

I'm SO ****ed about english. I went up in everything and then english screwed my composite. Do you think I should retake it yet again? I'd probably do better in english, but I'm worried I'll just go down on other subjects. My dream school is Tufts (yeah, I know), but I'm looking at schools ranging from UConn to Univ. of Roch. to Cornell. I'm just worried that a 25 in english is going to look really bad.

i think a 31 would be fine for tufts...even for cornell, a 31 is a pretty competitive score...

Many people would kill for that score. However, if you feel you could have done better in English (for me it's the easiest section), then you should give it a another round. I definitely believe if you take more practice tests, you can raise that score up over the 30's-32's. It's just a matter of recognizing the pattern in the English section.

bump

ANYONE have an opinion?

Depends on your personal strengths/weaknesses. How did you expect to do on English based on your practice tests? English was the easiest section of the ACT for me but everyone is different.

Well I'm usually good at English. I am a really good writer, got a 10 on the ACT essay and an 11 on the SAT essay and won several English awards this year. I wonder if i was just unlucky that day. If I retake I may go up in English, but whos to say I won't go down in something else.
