Should I retake the ACT?

I'm applying to Vanderbilt, Duke, UNC, Dartmouth and Purdue. I have a 4.0 and pretty good extracurriculars.

ACT Composite: 33
Reading: 35
English: 34
Math: 33
Science: 30
Writing: 10

I think it’s doubtful that you will score significantly higher a second time, but it’s up to you. That’s already an excellent score.

Creepy-- this is exactly what I got. I’m planning on retaking. You definitely have competitive scores, but if you think you can do better, then go for it. But as it stands, you are looking good :]

I think you should retake it, just because the Science score is so much less than the other scores.

If you can pull it up to a 32, and keep your other scores you’re looking at a 34.

However, you can definitely improve your Math too.

I think you’re fine. If you get rejected from any of those schools, it will not be because of your ACT score. It’s high enough, really. Maybe concentrate on other parts of your application - GPA, essays, extracurriculars?

Looks at your ACT scores

I would advise retaking it. Your scores are very good, and retaking it just to aim for a 34 or above is simply not worthwhile (you’d be climbing a mountain to get there).

Keep it the way it is.
