I took decided to drop the SATs and go for the ACTs in June. Well glad I did because I jumped from an SAT 1690 to an ACT composite 29. That is past the expectations for local schools I am looking into, but I know that is the lower range for some of the Ivy leagues.

I will say that that score is probably one of the weaker parts of my application. I would consider myself unique in the work and activities I pursue. Plus I am holding about a 3.90 gpa right now.

I know I can get a 30+, but I also know that I have the same chance (probably greater) that I will score a bit lower. It would be nice to get into an Ivy league, but it is not essential for me.

If I have a a strong resume, recommendations, volunteer work, a job, etc, is there a chance I could get into the some Ivy Leagues like Penn with my 29?

Also, I don't know if it would help, but my grandpa is founder and CEO of a somewhat well known health care corporation. Could a letter of reference help me there at all being that he went to Wharton?
