Should I retake the old SAT?

Hi, I’m a current high school junior, and I need your help. I just recently took the old SAT to get a feel for standardized tests before the new SAT comes out in March. I got a total score of 2130 (710 on the CR, 620 on the math, and 800 for the writing). I was originally planning on taking the old one only once before later taking the new one. But I’m really concerned about my math score–I thought it would be my highest score, so it was kind of a shock that it was this low. Thus, I’m considering maybe taking the old one again before the new one comes out. My parents think this is a bad idea, since the old one is becoming obsolete anyways, but there are several reasons why I think it might be a good idea to take it again:

  1. I could boost up my math score. At this point, I don't think it's high enough to get me into top schools.
  2. I could create a cushion for myself in case I don't do as well on the new one.
  3. My writing score is so high--it would be a waste to take the test without the writing section.
  4. I feel like it would be kind of a shame to take the old one once and not try to improve upon what I've done. What would be the point then?
  5. Almost all colleges will accept the old SAT for my class.
  6. I could potentially be done with my SATs this early.

So, what do you think I should do? Do you think it would be stupid to take the old one again, or would it be worth my time? Thanks!

In your case I’d think it’s totally worth it to take the old SAT again. That score is great for a first try so boosting it to a 2200+ shouldn’t be hard at all. Take the old one again and that’s one less thing you have to stress about haha.

TAKE IT DUDE!!! Math scores easier to improve than reading scores. Pick up Pwn the SAT Math and you’ll be well on your way to getting a 750+!
