I made a 760 on the Math 2 in May. Should I retake it in October aiming for an 800? I'm aware that a 760 is pretty good for a public university even for something like UT-Austin. But I'm aiming for universities like UPenn-Wharton, MIT, Cornell, etc.

This depends entirely on you. Does the 760 reflect your ability and the effort you put into the prep? Did you finish the test? Are you applying EA/ED, and if so do you need to retake SAT1 in October?

Based on this you can make a personal decision. Some people would be thrilled with a 760, it is a great score! If you didn’t put much effort into studying, are a very good math student, didn’t finish the test but got the questions right that you did finish (meaning practice to work on speed is your focus), then you stand a solid chance at improving your score. You also have to consider how many applications you will be putting in, if they are EA/ED, and if you will have time to devote in the summer-September for prep.

Appreciate your help! I think I’ll retake because I didn’t have enough time to prepare first time around. I’m going to be a junior next year so I still have time before college applications.
