I took it twice and ended up with a 2300, which I'd be content with if I hadn't lost all 100 points in the math section :( I'm not planning on applying to Ivy League schools, or any schools of their caliber (other than CMU, which is basically a pipe dream of mine haha). Will having an unbalanced SAT score hurt my chances at other schools, though? Sorry for being so vague - I don't have a list of colleges I'm looking into yet :/

Would taking the Math 2 SAT II and scoring well on that make up for my 700 on math?
+ can colleges see how many times you've taken the SAT?

if you could answer any of these questions it'd appreciate it!

A 2300 or better is achieved by ~7000 students in the world . . . that’s top 0.4%

Slacker . . .

c: haha yeah i know i’m being picky, but i’m paranoid!
don’t a lot of schools look just at your combined CR + Math score?

I have the same score as you (except my 700 is in Writing) and I’m not retaking even though I’m applying to the Ivies. If you get a 780+ on Math II your SAT I math score would be overlooked. Also, a 2300 is a great, great score. Retaking it will not improve admissions chances, and colleges can see how many times you took it. And even of those schools that look only at CR+M, a 1500 is at the higher end of most any college’s range.

Don’t Worry.

Thank you! That’s the best news I’ve heard in a while; I really wasn’t looking forward to taking it again. I’ll probably focus on studying for Math II, then.

Good luck with your college apps and all : )
