Should I retake the SAT and/or take the ACT?

I took the new SAT for the first time in October and scored a 1520 (790 on the Reading and Writing, 730 on the Math) with an 8/6/7 on the essay. I had two questions:

Should I retake it and/or take the ACT for upper level UCs (Santa Barbara, San Diego, Lit Angeles, Berkeley)?

How will the colleges I apply to differentiate between the old and the new SAT? (Since I belong to the class of 2018, I think they’ll be receiving both types of scores.)

I personally don’t think you need to retake. If you’re class of 2018, only a very slim amount of applicants will be submitting an SAT out of 2400 (because that would mean that they took it sophomore year, which isn’t a thing a lot of people do).

You’re asking if you should take another test when you’re in the 99+ %ile?

D had the same score, and even though we both felt she could do better with a second attempt, we didn’t bother as it’s a waste of money. She instead worked really hard on her essays.

Don’t waste the money.

your score is very good. But you can always try taking ACT or SAT again

I think it’s good enough
