Should I retake the SAT I?

I took the SAT I for the first time in 8th grade and got a 2260.
Reading - 700 // Math - 780 // Writing - 780 (Essay:8/Multiple choice:80)

I know the score 2260 overall is tolerably good, but the breakdown of the score shows obvious weaknesses in the Critical Reading section and the Essay.

Right now I'm just going to use these scores for my applications to boarding schools in the US. But should I retake the test later?

I want to study International Studies/Business in college so would these low Reading and Essay scores hurt my application a lot?

Thanks!!

What grade are you in? If you study more and if you feel you will do better, than take it again. I think you should, you can still improve a lot.

I’m a rising freshman.

In that case, definitely retake sometime.

I’d take it again as a junior. That’s a helluva score for an 8th grader!!
