I just received my November scores on the 24th and I’m considering retaking it. This was the first time I wrote it and I got a 2330 with 800 CR, 790 WR and 740 M. Do you recommend I retake it? I want to do science after school and my Math score is below my potential. Is it worth trying hard just to push it up?
No. You will do fine. If you’re applying to schools like MIT or Harvey Mudd, then take the Math 2 subject test to show your ability.
Are you a junior?
Don’t retake. Those are excellent scores.
I also took it for the first time in November and got a similar score. I’m just going to take Math II to make up for my math score.
Seriously? Most schools are not looking for perfection, even the most elite ones.
Do not retake. I repeat. Do not retake. You are done with the SAT.
Unless you’re applying to Caltech or MIT, a 740 in math won’t hurt you.
I do plan on applying to these schools. Will an 800 in Math 2 make up for it?
YES!!! you are right between the 25-75% for ALL of these schools you will be ABSOLEUTELY FINE
If you are a junior I’d say retake if you want to go somewhere like MIT (where 25th percentile is 750) or Caltech (where it’s 770). If you’re a senior or it’s a money problem don’t bother, or just take Math 2 as said above.
Thanks
Don’t retake. Go out and celebrate instead!
