I'm going to be applying to colleges this coming fall and I am looking at some Ivies and several other top schools (Dartmouth, Princeton, Yale, Brown, MIT, Stanford, Williams). I have a 2250 single sitting score, as well as superscore, (800M, 800CR, 650W). I am wondering if my writing score is fine considering my other two scores or if I should try for a higher writing score in October. If I do retake, it will be my third time taking the SAT. Any feedback is very much appreciated.

No need for retake. Most colleges don’t look at writing.

It’s very very good. No need to retake. But don’t listen to people who say colleges don’t look at writing. Most of them do, even though Math and Cr and slightly more important.

Although writing score is less important, I would still suggest to get it above 700 for these highly competitive schools if you have time. Is essay your weakest part? That alone can bring down the W score a lot. If so, you probably need more time to work on your application essays too.

I have been having trouble with my SAT essay (I got an 8 both times because I figured experience with the test alone would help boost my score a bit, but that only worker for math and critical reading) and only missed 2-3 MC. I am normally a good writer when I’m given enough time to compose a good piece and have it edited for any awkwardness, so I’m not too worried about my admissions essays. I’ll definitely look into a template and I’ll most likely end up signing up for the October test. I had the exact same thought about the excuse to deny my application mentorsattic!
