Hey guys,
So I got a 1530 on the SAT (770 Reading/Writing and 760 Math).
I’m really happy with my Reading/Writing score, but my math score is lower than what I was hoping for: I was getting 800’s in practice but three incorrect questions with the lack of curve dragged me down to a 760.
I want to know whether I should retake the SAT, as this was my first time taking it. I intend to apply to the top computer science schools (i.e. Stanford, MIT, CMU, Berkeley, etc.), so my only concern is that my math score is somewhat low for the standards of the CS departments in those schools: their accepted students have an average of 780-800 on SAT math.
However, I do have other way to show these schools that I am good at math (e.g. coursework, AP exams, competitions, etc.), so I wonder if those will make up for my SAT math score.
So, should I retake the SAT to bump my math score up to the standards of top CS schools, or should I not? Thanks in advance
