Hi, i'm a junior and I took the SAT in october of my sophomore year (2008). I scored a 2300, 750 Critical Reading, 800 Math, 750 Writing (12 Essay 69 Multiple Choice). I was originally satisfied with my score, but I go to a very competitive but public high school where there are a multitude of kids in my grade who basically won't settle for less than a 2400. Is it advisable that I start studying for the SAT again so I can perhaps increase my score/superscore to at least a 2350? I'm planning on applying to ivy league schools, and while I understand that my current scores fits in the median ranges of these Ivy League schools, I'm afraid that my ethnicity (asian) and my lack of legacy actually mandates a much higher median range of SAT scores than what is reported by the university itself. However, I'm also afraid of the possible negative effects that may happen if I choose to take the SAT again, that if I actually do worse than I did last year, it will tell the admissions officer that I've actually "dumbed down" in a one-year span. Although there is score choice, many ivy league schools state that they do not abide by it and require all scores. But then again, if there's a good 15 kids in my class that have a higher SAT score than me, i'm not sure how my chances to getting into these extremely competitive ivy league schools will be, as ivy league schools do not usually take more than one student from the same public high school.

Btw, do you know if theres any advantage to being a "one-time" SAT Taker, as well as if theres an advantage to having the test taken as a sophomore while most other scores are from kids who were juniors/seniors?

Thanks.
