i would like to transfer to an ivy (or at least a better school) for fall 2009, and my SAT score is 2070. how much is this going to hurt my chance at admission? i expect to have a 3.8-4 GPA.

i did not do any preparing to get a 2070, so i hope that with some practice i would be able to raise my score to 2150-2200+.

thoughts? would it be worth the effort of "studying" for this test?

I would say to take it again, if your confident that the time spent studying will result in a higher score. Your current score is on the low end for ivies and other top schools.

Yes, you should retake the SAT as many times as possible until you get a high score on it, wow..2070 thats pretty high...but if you planning to apply to an ivy league school, then you definitely should retake it! I retook my ACT twice already...I might take it again if I score low the second time. Retaking it and improving your scorel will make you have a better chance of getting accepted to an ivy league. Good Luck!! :)

I assume you're already in college, so why not check the website of the college you think you'd like to attend; they aren't shy about saying whether they'll base transfer admission on grades or test scores, and it varies from school to school.
