Should I retake this class?

Hi, I'm a rising senior who got a D/A in Physics B and a 4 in the test and my teacher is not willing to change my first semester grade at all. So 1.It's a huge impediment on my GPA and 2.D's aren't attractive on college apps..

So what my question is (as the title suggests) would it be worth it to retake the class first semester even though it won't change what my GPA is on college apps., or do you think that it is worth it to write that I am re-doing the class on my apps and hope that colleges will understand that the first grade isn't permanent and that I'm making an effort to correct my mistake even though the correction won't help fix my official GPA.

I mean AP Physics was technically an elective, it wasn't like I was required to pass it to graduate since technically it was my 5th class in a lab science so is it even worth making up as an elective?

I know my question may seem confusing but basically what I'm asking is if there is enough merit in making up a hindrance to my GPA even though it may won't change my GPA until after I'm done applying to college...

is the merit worth the effort is basically what I'm trying to say

bump 10 char

I say, don't retake. It's nice that you're trying but if it won't affect GPA (even if it would) I would not do it. You'll be fine.
