Should I Retake with a 33?

I just got my ACT scores, and I got a 33 composite

34 English
30 Math
33 Reading
35 Science
10 Essay (33 English+Essay)

I was really hoping for a 34+ and I was just a little short. This is my second time taking the test (I got a 32 last time), and I am hoping to apply EA for Harvard next fall.

The question is, should I retake it in September? Or should I just focus on my SAT II scores and other stuff? I'm really angry that I was only 1 point away from a 34! GRRRRRRRR

2nd time…SERIOUSLY?! What grade are you?
DANG THAT IS AMAZING. I got a 33 too and this is like my 6th-7th time T_T.
TEACH ME YOUR SCIENCE WAYS. I feel your pain though, if I had gotten my regular math score of 34-35 could had a 34…-grumble-

Retake it, it’s not like it’ll hurt you, colleges won’t see it unless you send it.

But on terms of SAT II stuff, focus more on that first over the ACT since you’ve got a high score :)

If you are planning on liberal arts, it seems ok but for STEM 30 is low in math. Harvard will have some tough competition wiith lots of 35s and 36s applying.

bump…any thoughts? I really don’t know what to do. I thought a 33 was good enough, but I’m not sure anymore. Do colleges really get this picky when scores are only a few points apart? Sorry to bring this back up somewhat late, I’ve been traveling and have had spotty internet connection the past few days.

I’d only retake it if you’re planning to major in math or physics or engineering or computer science… Something math-heavy, ya’ know.

33 is fine. Personally I would recommend you to apply to Harvard EA at beginning of Fall and then take September test. If you do better, then send it to Harvard. If not, you still have a great score. 33-36 are all within top 99% of testtakers.

Good Luck!

Retake it. Try to do more well on the math and essay sections in particular.
