Alright guys. I'm a junior and I took the SAT for the first time in January. I'm not trying to be arrogant, but my question is should I retake a 2320 (780m, 760cr, 780w). I'm pretty sure that if I had more practice, I could boost my score to 2350+, especially with the math score that I have. But how much of a difference will this make? How much better will colleges view a 2350+ as opposed to a 2320? Basically, is it worth retaking knowing that I can do better?

i think those are great scores already, even if you were a senior. but you're a junior and that's even better.
780 is practically 800.
i dont think you should feel pressured to take another sat just because it isnt over 2350.

but i do have a friend who got a 2320 her junior year, but got a 2350 the next time she took the sat.

so it's rather up to how you feel..
if you're okay with the scores now, then you can put an end to SAT.

Focus on SAT II's, AP's/IB's, and your GPA for now and come back to the SAT I if you really want to improve. ATM your scores are outstanding and the best thing you can do is make sure that the other pieces of the puzzle fit.

I realize that, but my friend told me there's no reason not to get 800 on math, and if I didn't, it's only because I didn't check. As harsh as that sounds, I think it's true, especially since I have learned all the math skills that are tested on the SAT.

Also, I feel like I should retake not because my score isn't over 2350 but because I feel like I can improve. The question is, if I reach 2350, how big of a difference will that make?

seriously, work on your other tests for now... you should be prepping for your SAT IIs and AP tests. Anything above 2250+ is basically good for top tier colleges.

icebarracuda, if i do retake, i will definitely be aiming for something high.

schoolismylife, i have taken SAT Bio and IIC and have done well on them. i have also already begun to study for aps. i don't think my studying for the SAT will interfere with anything else.

zach, I don't know whether colleges would make a difference, but by common sense, I would think it does. To me at least, a 2380 for example looks much better than a 2320.

I wouldn't retake, since your scorea are balanced. Seriously, with such balanced scores, there's no reason to retake; colleges might think your obsessed.

I think I already commented on the other thread, so you know my opinion. If you feel you can do better, take it. It doesn't hurt to take it more than once, seriously.

I retook a 2300 and my composite became a 2400. If you want to retake it just to see if you can get higher go ahead and do it...but I wouldn't stress about it too much if I were you. I doubt that it would make THAT much of a difference in college admissions.

I am amazed at how dumb some intelligent people are.

Retaking a near perfect score will do only one thing. It will show the colleges that you care wayyyyyyyyyy too much about grades, and they do not like that (when it is obvious).
