I was wondering if I should retake either the SAT or ACT in the fall. I'm aiming for a top 10 college and hopefully an Ivy league.

I've taken the SAT twice and I have received the following scores:

1st Time = CR:710 M:730 W:780 Composite: 2220
2nd Time= CR:740 M:800 W:710 Composite : 2250

Superscore= CR: 740 M:800 W:780 Composite : 2320

I've taken the ACT once and received a 34 composite (E:34,M:36,R:34,S:33).

My first question is whether I should retake either of those two and my second is which scores should i send to colleges? I'm tempted to retake them because I think I can do better in CR of the SAT, and since I was so close to a 35 in the ACT(34.25 rounded down), I feel that I might be able to get a 35 on the ACT. Is it worth it?

Thanks.

I think your ACT and SAT single sitting are roughly equivalent, so you can send both if you want (your superscore is definitely better though). Do the schools you are aiming for superscore? Also, are you a junior or a sophomore right now?

Yes, for the most part, they do superscore. I just finished Junior year, so I will be a senior next year. The next dates for the tests would be in September or October for ACT and October/November for SAT.

You really don’t need to retake. All your section scores are at or above 50%. If you got rejected from any school, it is not because of your scores. Focus on your essays and round up your EC to show your passion. That would be all you need for the applications. The rest is not on your hand.

You’re scores are good enough for any school. Don’t waste your time retaking. For the majority of the Ivies (including Harvard) what you have is a 2320.

Then don’t retake. Since most of them superscore, you have a 2320, which is great.

Use the time you would have used studying to write phenomenal essays instead :)
