I was very happy with my ACT composite (won’t post just because I swear everyone on here just glorifies their own stats) but my essay was a 6. I’m thinking of applying to top tier/second tier colleges (Cornell, CWRU, UMich) and I’m wondering if I should retake the ACT just to improve my essay.
This isn’t really a matter of HOW to improve my essay; I got a 9 the first time I took it but the second time I kind of just slept and wrote a couple paragraphs because I was so confident after the composite section, lol. Is it worth retaking if I did well on the composite portion?
I’m mainly worried because on the common data sets for a bunch of colleges, it says that they use the ACT essay to validate the application essays and I’m afraid they’ll get the wrong idea of my common app essays with my weak ACT essay score.
(Also, is it possible to submit my 9 from my first test along with my Composite from the second time?)
Thanks.
