Should I retake?

I've just seen my SAT II scores, and I am shocked.

I was expecting 800 in math IIC, but unfortunately received a 790.

I'm a sophomore right now, so is it a good idea to retake? I'm worried it might affect my chances for the Ivies. I'm so stressed out!?!

Thanks guys.

OMG, I GOT A 790! I'm so angry! I'm never going to get into Harvard!!!

what happens if you get below a 700 on the SAT subject tests? You'd probably be like dobby in harry potter, LOL!

Obviously, since you don't understand that there is no statistical difference between an 800 and a 790, you don't deserve an 800 on a math subject test.

The general rule of thumb is...if you score 770-780+, don't retake. Really, anyone who is scoring 770+ should be able to score a 800 if the questions were "in their favor."

I agree with these comments. A 790 will not affect your application.

Thanks for your reply. The reason I was so worried was that a "friend" told me it would hurt admissions at those engineering schools.

Why would a 790 make any difference from an 800? And plus engineering schools probably get a billion kajillion kids with perfect 800s anyway so even if you had gotten an 800 it might not have made a difference. You got an excellent score, leave it alone.

Holleee cow only 790, no wonder your stressed out. (Sarcasm)
