Should I retake?

I've only taken the SAT's once, and I promised myself if I got 700+, then this would be it, and I wouldn't torment myself any longer.
I got an 800 in critical reading, a 700 in math, a 710 in writing.

I've also gotten a 750 on the Math I and 740 on the Math II, 780 on U.S. History and 700 on Spanish.

I'm applying to top caliber colleges (Yale, Brown, Amherst, BU, NYU), so I need good test scores, but is it worth it? Do my 740 and 750 somehow make up for the 700?

I have extreme test anxiety, as I know many people do, so I really don't want to take the test again. Also, I don't want to risk having any 600's on my application (I know they look at the top score, but still, they see the others). However, I think I am capable of mid-700's on both the writing and math, but then I probably wouldn't get an 800 on critical reading (again, I know they count your highest score, but there's something psychological about having the 800).

Any help would be very much appreciated.
Thanks.

I think your SAT score is really good ..... as long as the rest of your profile, along with your essays, is good, i don't think it should be much of a problem .... your english seems good from your SAT scores .... so you are in good shape ....

how did you study for the critical reading and writing??? i mean thats a solid 800 .... any tips for these two sections??

thanks!

People in your position (like myself) usually opt to take the ACT, which allows you to retake the test as many times as you can and to send in only the best score. Your SAT scores are very close to mine, and like yourself, I would not want to get a lower score on the 2nd take and have to send both scores in. I just took the ACT last week and would recommend you do the same if you are truly interested in raising your overall standardized test score without any risk.

I just used a test prep book, and honestly I only really focused on the math. I'm also took English Lang and Comp AP. I want to be an English professor, so that's really my strongest area.

thanks for the advice =)
