Should I retake?

I have an interesting situation and would like others thoughts/opinions. First of all, I don't test well. I tend to over analyze and over think every question and I also have problems focusing on incredibly boring, un-engaging material.

My predicament is that, after taking the test twice, I still fall underneath the average for my top choice school. However, I recently found out that the school accepts the January SAT test. So my question is this: should I bother retaking for one, albeit my top school?

Just to give you a quick overview of my scores/stats-

GPA: 3.91 UW

Math: 740
CR: 660
Writing: 690 (10 essay)

Math IIC: 800
Physics: 710

Although my scores are not up to par, I feel that my essays are quite unique and accurately reflect my dynamic personality. The rest of my application shouldn't have any detrimental effect on my chances, so that's not a problem.

All my scores were achieved without any preperation and were I to retake it in January, I would be studying.

Your results are great in my opinion. If you want to retake go for it. CR needs a bit effort in yor part I guess. I am taking in Jan too

Just to give you an idea, the average SAT at the school is 1450. And, according to their website, the range is as follows:

SAT Critical Reading 680-760
SAT Math 740-790
SAT Writing 670-740
SAT Math II Subject Exam 760-800

The average so your results are near that level. The average is kinda in the middle so u do stand a chance. What college u are applying by the way. My CR is 760 and Math 680. I wish i can trade ur math.lol

Harvey Mudd College

retaking it will increase your chances to mudd

for muidd, id recommend reatking for an 800M and 700+ for the rest. after that your chances will go up, but remember SATs are but a small factor nowadays.
