Should I retake?

I promised myself before I took SAT for the first time, that if I got above 2350, I wouldn't do it again. Unfortunately, my scores came back on that said precarious number, and I'm not sure if I should retake.

I've heard that East Coast schools do SAT Composites, meaning that if I retake it I'm almost guaranteed a perfect composite score.

On the other hand, I've heard tragic stories about poor little geniuses who got rejected for their 2400s because they retook a 2390. (pricks...)

Congratulations to everybody and good luck!

a 2350 and ur thinking of retaking....expect some nasty posts man

the difference between a 2350 and a 2400 to an admissions counselor is nonexistent, so the only reason you would have to retake the SAT is a) you have an extra $50 you want to throw away b) you have an extra 4 hours to waste or c) you want bragging rights. not to sound harsh but the extra 50 points is definitely not going to help you get into college, so spend some time on other things... sat 2s, aps, grades, etc.

I'm not saying this from out of the blue either, becasue the same thing happened to me. I got a 2350 on my first try, and then retook focusing on the section i lost points on to get a 2400 second try. Little did I know, it wasn't worth it at all and if I had spent the time studying for a few more calc tests I could have had a better grade in math.

2350 and 2400 is nothing. Consider me. 2290 and 2400 is a much bigger range.

dude go suck a D@#$ ur thinking about retaking 2350 thats good enought to get into anyschool if u have other stats to back it up, it will definetly not hurt u in the admission proecess, score like that can only help u, how did u do it plz answer to those of us in need, how many hours a day, what books, how bout vocab?

yes, i have the same question ^.

Don't take it again. A 2300 or above is fine if you're considering the top colleges in the country. Besides, why waste your time taking a 4-hour test again?

I wouldn't retake it.

You're gonna do worse.

You'll've lost time, money, and your childhood.

^^^HAHAHAHA....."childhood"

Don't take it again, it'll probably look worse just because a 2350 your FIRST time is going to look soo good

DONT RETAKE IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Umm first off pat yourself on the back for actually scoring a 2350! That is some people's dream score rite there, and u got it on ur first sitting! Secondly, (like everyone above me has posted) concentrate on other things like grades, AP tests, SAT II prep, etc

OP, get a life. Like now. Forget about the SATs. It's over. Have some fun. stop being a loser and worrying about a stupid 2350. If you retake it you will be rejected by all of your colleges for being obsessed with a stupid test.

In a nutshell: don't retake.

it's a waste of time, energy, money, calculator batteries and, pencil shavings.
do something usefull with the time you'd spend "prepping" for the test.
2350 to 2400 is not that big a deal. Perfection is overrated.

do something else boy!..

a 2350 and a 2400 is like the difference between a 99 and a 100 in some class. Is anyone really going to think that the 99 guy is stupid?

if I was in ur situation I 'might' have retaken that (score obsessed sometimes!) but yeah, I do agree there's no reason to retake it since they'd hardly care if u make a 2380 next time (now, don't tell me like u can exactly make a 2400 if u give the next time! there's gotta be some kind of luck for that day)

just dont do it.

Here's my advice to you.....

Nike^-1

"Just DON'T do it"

^ lol. how original.

I'd say, you have a lot more to lose than you have to gain. Doing well on only one try will probably tell a college Admissions officer that you probably could have gotten a 2400 given a second chance. Plus, if something bad happened, and lets say you brought up the section that got the 750 or w/e, to an 800, but a stronger subject just happened to have a killer section that day, it might cause you to drop down from an 800 to say a 700. It would look so much worse. Basically, your gambling a lot for such a miniscule benefit.
