Hi,
I'm looking to go to an ivy league school. I'm a rising senior. My first ACT (April) was a 33 composite. I took the June ACT and I think I did better, but I'm not sure.

I took the SAT to see if I would do better on that than the ACT. I didn't. I got a 2100 composite, which was much lower than my PSAT score predicted. I don't really want to retake the SAT, because it is so long. Do I have to report this SAT score to colleges like Harvard and Yale, or can I just show my ACT score? Or should I retake the SAT and try for a higher score?

Thanks :)

You don’t have to send your SAT score if you send your ACT score(s), because only 1 of the two is required for Harvard and Yale (and other Ivy Leagues, as well as all schools that accept the ACT, I believe). In other words I don’t think any school that accepts the ACT in the first place will necessarily want your SAT on top of it. If your college list (and research) is not done yet, you may consider retaking the SAT in case one or more of your potential colleges do not accept the ACT.

Anyway, you should still retake the ACT or the SAT since neither a 33 ACT nor a 2100 SAT are THAT competitive in schools like Harvard and Yale. A 33 ACT is about right in the middle (equivalent to a 2200 SAT), so you might want to consider retaking either the ACT or the SAT if you want to improve your chances in that area of your application. Of course this is all assuming you didn’t do a lot better on the June ACT.

I actually got a 35 on the June ACT. Is that better? Should I retake the SAT still?
