Hi, I don't know much about sororities besides the typical television description. I do not for that stereotype at all. I have no family that has been in sororities and few friends. I need the basic info about why or why not to go Greek. If anyone knows good sororities at UF also let me know. I'm a easy going, hard working, and over achieving student.

It is called recruitment now.
If you are even considering it, then I would at least sign up and go to recruitment. If at any time you decide that it is not for you then you can always just drop out.
My understanding that many opt not to try their freshman year and then later regret it.
It is a great place to have a small niche in a very large university…my understanding is you will make lifelong friends…the girls in your pledge class will probably be the ones you end up getting an apartment with and living with the remaining years at UF. There is also many different sororities…not just the stereotypical
Anyways, those are the reasons I plan to at least check it out. Hope to see you there

How much on average does being in a sorority cost and how hard is it to earn scholarships towards it?

I hear the cost is about 1800 a semester(the first semester will cost more with initiation), but you need to realize that it also includes a meal plan…they want you to go eat at the house, but you do not have to. You have to pay regardless…if you have a class that interfers then they will bag it for you and you can pick it up later…
INFO comes from me asking people who already in greek system.

A meal plan costs about the same on campus

I do not know anything about scholarships

Here it says some chapters do offer assistance:

Does it cost money to go through recruitment?

It cost $135.00 to register if apply May 1 to July 15 and %150.00 after that…It covers the expenses…
Here is the whole pamphlet with lots of info…

Thank you!

There is also a new local sorority at UF called Delta Nu Zeta. They are not about that typical sorority stereotype and the dues are a fourth of the Panhellenic. Here is their website: [Delta Nu Zeta, University of Florida - Home](http://deltanuzetauf.■■■■■■■■■■/)

Definitely go to recruitment. It is a lot of fun and you meet so many new people. Don’t not do it and then regret it. I am speaking from personal experience here.

If you think you might want to do it, do it. It is easier to get in as a new freshman and more fun to be in from the start. If it turns out you’re not “Greek material” (meaning it doesn’t suit your personality, and it is not for everyone) you can always quit in the middle or even quit after you’ve pledged. Nothing to lose by going except that registration fee.

how much is the current sorority registration fee?

^^^
answered above unless you are talking about something different???
