Should i sacrifice my college campus experience for a commuter school?

I visited New Paltz and am in love with it.
Should i sacrifice going there for Baruch College for a major in Accounting?
I really don't wish to commute because I feel like I won't be happy making friends that are already in cliques. (People around here tend to stay in their friend circle).

After financial aid, New Paltz is about ~3-4k, so tuition is not a problem.

Where should I go?

Go to SUNY New Paltz…it’s a great school and you loved your visit. My son is a transfer student there. If you have any questions, I’d be happy tp try and answer them for you. We were just up there yesterday to visit…we had such a good time in the town, shopping, having lunch and then going to Minnewaska lake which is gorgeous.

100% New Paltz. I believe that 4-year college experience is really important. It’s only 4 year and no more.

btw, are you going to major accounting in New Paltz as well?

Yes i am majoring in accounting at New Paltz

A commuter school is great if you’re looking for 4 more years of high school.

Dont go to baruch, it’s really terribly horrendous, I’m transferring out next semester.

I hear a lot of people aren’t happy at baruch, those that are still there anyways

If you want to go to New Paltz, you got in, and you’ll be able to afford it, I can’t see any reason why you wouldn’t go. Congratulations! Have a wonderful time!

i’m just concerned about majoring in accounting because tons of people at baruch go for accounting but i don’t know how highly regarded the business department is at new paltz. recruits, internships and etc.

Our only criterion for our kids is no commuter schools. In fact, we’ve urged them to specifically look for schools where living on campus all four years is the norm.

One of my son’s housemates is a business major at New Paltz and he got a great internship this summer in NYC.

is your son’s housemate a junior? i think that’s when they start with internships.

Yes, he is a junior.
