Should I scan and send my certificates to the college or just listing them will do?

Should I scan and send my certificates of my achievements and ECs to the college or just listing them will do?
I am an international student applying to :

  1. Stanford
  2. Harvard
  3. MIT
  4. UCB
  5. Purdue
  6. Georgia
  7. Columbia University
  8. Caltech

List them

So they will never be needing them?

Not likely. That isn’t something that students send in. Your accomplishments are on the honor system. And hopefully your GC letter will be mentioning them for credibility, maybe you essay too. They definitely don’t want extra materials. Esp certain schools, Stanford. Your application package should not contain extraneous materials.

If that is the case, what stops people from lying?

Not much

What stops them from lying? The knowledge that they will spend the rest of their lives explaining to potential employers why they were kicked out of (insert name of college here.)

But how will the colleges actually verify the ECs and Achievements?

There have been several cases of fraudulent ECs being found out. I’m pretty sured the convicted students thought the exact same thing…how will they find out?

To some degree, the mandatory GC’s recommendation may reduce dishonesty.
