I was considering self studying AP Psych next year. I will be a sophomore, and my only hard classes are Alg2Honors, ChemHonors and EnglishHonors (only offers EnviSci to sophs as an AP, and I have no room to take :/).

My dad studied Psychology in college (not practicing), and could help me if I need any. And I was going to get Barrons.

I know you are all thinking that this is such a BS AP, but I actually want to study neuroscience in college. My school does not offer AP Psych...

If you’re confident than you should do it. I took the AP test not that long ago and most of the material is common sense. Just make sure to study extra on how the brain functions. You can easily pass the test with a practice book and some of the online practice exams that have been released.

I took it this year self-studying and as a procrastinating sophmore… I only studied Barrons for 10 hours at most and believe that I got 90-95% of the MC and the FRQ was extremely easy. However, this may not always be the case, but my personal opinion is that self-studying is fairly easy if you take the time to read the book and answer the problems. I also took an hour the night before to take a practice one on the Barron’s CD ROM which showed me quickly what I needed to review.

lol my friend self-studied it by reading the Cliff’s AP Psych book the week before and nothing else and got a 5. You could definitely do it since it’s one of the easiest ap exams.

I’m a freshman this year, and that was one of the APs I self-studied. I was busy all year, and never bothered to even look at the book. The test was on Monday, May 7th. The day before, I spent a couple hours spread throughout the day studying. I thought the exam was incredibly easy and I’m sure I got a 5. While all the aforementioned books are good, I would recommend that you use REA’s Crash Course. It’s the shortest and most concise, with a section that is about 20 pages long that summarizes the content of the entire test. It would save you a lot of time, because it leaves out unnecessary information. Good luck! (:

You can do it in one night before the exam, just buy the DirectHits book. Don’t even bother with Barrons, I literally self-studied in 14 hours and I was fully confident when I left the exam… and i got a 5 :)

Ive decided to self study it next year. Here is my main question. I know there are multiple threads concerning what i am asking but they are a bit old. I want to buy barrons because it has the best reviews. Should i buy the 5th edition, which is new and has NO reviews on amazon, or ahould i buy the 2008 version? Do the tests change from year to year? I dont want to invest that much time and then get a low score becauae i used an outdated version. Any help would be appreciated. I would like to do barrons because i want to learn the course as well as get a 5. Thanks in advance
