Should I self study AP World History while taking World History?

Okay I was curious to know if I should self study AP World History while taking the regular/Honors World History course? Will it help me? Is it worth it? Which study book is better? I’m just curious about it.

I think it shouldn’t be too bad. The most important thing for you would be to learn to write the 3 essays and familiarize yourself with the different AP World periods and themes. The things you learn in the World History course will help you, as long as you take the time to learn how they fit into the APWH framework. Whether it’s worth it is something you have to decide on your own, based on your current workload, time management and interest. I personally found the Barron’s book most helpful, but I also used the Princeton Review one. The Princeton Review was more condensed, so it was useful for studying within a short time span. Before tests and major assessments, I would read the Princeton Review first to get an overview of the events, then use Barron’s to learn more details. I can’t comment on the other AP books available since I never used them, though I heard the Crash Course book was quite useful too.

Barron’s is better if you will be self studying along with the course. Princeton Review was a bit too colloquial for me but if you’re cramming before the test that might be better.
