Hello, I’m a rising Junior and I was wondering whether I should self-study AP Bio or AP Environmental Science (Since I won’t be able to hit the requirements to take AP Bio, the only AP science class offered at my school by senior year)
To add on this will be my first year taking AP classes
I think your time would be better spent excelling in your actual HS classes and being involved in EC activities.
Agreed, particularly if you don’t have the requirements to take the class, you’ll likely be overwhelmed trying to do it on your own.
I’m already doing pretty well in my regular high school classes I believe and I just wanted to be challenged more.
Colleges much prefer that you actually take classes. Self studying will not impress them. Any excess free time you have would be better spent on ECs.
I don’t think we can say whether AP bio is “needed,” without knowing what AP you are taking, especially lab science. And what you hope to major in.
Agree with ski, better to take a class, for lots of reasons. Sure, you can study anything you wish, on your own time. But don’t think doing that, then taking the AP test, offers any AP boost.
