The real issue is that my ACT Score is a 36 Composite with a 10 on Writing, but I've heard that a lot of the East Coast colleges value the SAT more than the ACT despite their claims that they weight them equally...

Should I send the ACT, the SAT, or Both????
Please note that sending them both will NOT cost more than sending just one of them, because I also have to send SAT II Subject Test scores to all of my colleges (800 Bio, 800 Math II, 780 US History, 700 Spanish)

If it helps, the top Colleges I'm looking to send them to are:
Harvard, UChicago, Northwestern, Carnegie Melon, MIT

Alright, so thanks everyone for alleviating my fears that the ACT and SAT might not be considered equally, but I’m still a little worried about the idea that the 2300 can’t hurt me.

According to the equivalency charts, a 2300 SAT is supposed to be equal to a 34 ACT composite. So would it really not be detrimental for me to send an SAT score that’s substantially weaker than my ACT score??

If you’re not sending Subject Tests along with the ACT score, I wouldn’t spend the $10.50 per college just to send a solid (but not perfect) SAT score. You have a perfect ACT score; stick with that.

However, if you are already paying to send Subject Test scores, you might as well send the 2300 SAT along too.

The only thing I’m really afraid of is that while both of the scores look good for schools like Carnegie or Northwestern, with a lot of the more high-powered schools like Harvard and MIT, the 2300 SAT might detract from the prestige of the 36 ACT :
