I got an 800 on the math section of the regular SAT, but I got a 740 on the Math II subject test, which is 57th percentile. Should I send my 740 to these schools (which don’t require, but do consider subject tests if they are sent): Georgia Tech, Purdue, VA Tech, RIT, and Stony Brook if I am applying for computer science?
Yes; the score is fine.
Don’t get caught up with percentiles. It is important to understand that for several subjects, the percentiles are depressed because so few colleges request Subject Tests, that the ones that do are the ultra selective ones. As a result, it is the high achieving kids taking the tests. No AO is sitting on the floor cross-referencing scores with percentiles.
Send it!
A 740 is a fine score and can be provided to any college that considers subject tests. Percentiles are not the issue for subject tests, scores are. Most who take subject tests are those with very high stats who. are applying to very high ranked colleges. On the Math 2, an 800 is often only the 80th percentile. If percentile mattered, no one would ever be admitted
If that. The post recent one a saw was 79th.
Yes, I’d say sending it at least shows colleges you took the initiative to take an optional exam
Yes, send. It’s a good score. Colleges don’t look at percentile but actual score.
