Should I send a follow-up letter of interest?

I got deferred EA from UMich and got the letter that said "Therefore, please ask your high school counselor to forward your fall semester or second trimester grades when they become available and be sure your U-M ID _______________ is on the material. Beyond that, we are confident that the information you have given us is more than sufficient for a final decision. The most successful candidates send us only what we require."

I have recently got a few awards and want to tell the admissions about it. Do you think its worth sending an e-mail to express my interest and tell them about said awards?

It may help, but try to ask yourself what you may have been lacking to be deferred- was it GPA, test score, etc. Obviously, the answer is never that simple, but I would send in additional info if you really feel it will strengthen the application.

OP, this has been discussed on the deferred thread extensively - you should read it. If you have additional awards and meaningful updates to provide, by all means let your Michigan rep know. My son was deferred initially and received his most prestigious awards during his senior year. He emailed his Admissions rep with the updates and was accepted in March.
