Should I send a letter?

Hey, I applied to the College of Engineering at Mich for rolling decisions around mid-Jan.

On the 10th of Feb, I was sent an email saying I was deferred for further review.

I have sent in my mid-year report after that, but nothing else.

Should I send a letter of continued interest as well, or is it okay if I don't since the email said to send in my latest grades and not much more?

I know that it can't hurt, but I've already fit a lot into my Why Michigan essay, and I feel that whatever I put in my email will be repetitive so it doesn't really add much to my file. Really confused, so any help would be really appreciated:)

a letter of continued interest can simply be a solid couple of sentences stating your love for michigan and simply that you are still very interested even though you were deferred.

I did that for mine! I’d recommend you do that if you feel like you’ve filled everything up in your “why michigan” essay. It will show how much you wanna go.

bluelion, if your stats are above average (IE >33 ACT, >2200 SAT, and you have a high GPA 3.9+ UW) it is possible that Michigan would not have expected you to yield and therefore deferred you. In this case, sending a letter showing continued interest would be helpful. However, if Michigan was more of a high match/low reach for you, the University may just have to wait to see how many other qualified applicants they receive and if there is still room for your acceptance.

Uncannily enough, my SAT is 2200, and my GPA is 3.9 :p

I’m an international student also btw.

Is it too late to send in a letter now that it’s almost a month since I got my reply, or should I go ahead and send one?
