PLEASE help me decide if I should send my ACT 34 composite (35M 35E 33R 33S) to top schools. I am already sending my 2340 SAT and subject tests (both 770+). I’m just worried because I go to a non AP school so I didn’t take any AP tests. Would the ACT score help make up for that?
No. if it were me, I won’t send. Why would an ACT score help you with AP…?
I’m not sure I get what you’re saying. You don’t know if you want to send a 34 ACT composite because you didn’t take an AP class? ACT and AP are two totally different things. AP classes and your score on the exam tell colleges whether or not you could handle college-level rigor at a high-school pace. That has nothing to do with the SAT/ACT, which are standardized tests that show your college readiness. You high ACT score cannot make up for your lack of AP Courses. If your school doesn’t offer it, they don’t offer it, it’s not your fault, and colleges should understand if you spell that out explicitly in your application.
You do know that with that ACT score, and your high sub-scores, you are in the 95%+ percentile? And your SAT score is quite high, as well. I would send your ACT and SAT score (if you want to send both) to whatever colleges you are applying to. What colleges are you planning to send them too, anyway? If they’re Ivy-league, then it might be a matter of splitting hairs, but any college you apply to with a ACT score of 34, the college will take you on, especially if you have a GPA to match that. But even if you don’t, colleges will be willing to accept you, because your score is so high.
Ok, thanks for the helpful replies!
