Should I send all of my SAT scores if it is "highly recommended"?

Hello. I have taken the SAT three times, and my scores (in order) have been 1340, 1460, and 1510. My superscore is a 1570, and combines the last two sittings.

I’ve noticed that a lot of colleges I’m interested in allow for superscoring, but they all “highly recommend” sending all scores even though only the highest sections will be considered.

Should I send my 1340 score then? Will they know if I don’t send it?

If the wording is truly “highly recommend” and not “require” then I’d say don’t send the 1340.

I heard from a former Stanford Admissions Officer that lower scores are not totally ignored, even when they say they consider highest.

good luck.

They are highly recommending it to assure you actually do send your best scores, but it is not required and if your best scores are only the result of two tests, you can just send those 2.

Stanford, mentioned above, used to require all scores. It no longer does. Moreover, last year it made a major change doing away with the requirement to submit official scores from the testing agency until after you are admitted. For determining admission, you now need only submit self-reported scores in the common app, and you need list only your highest composite score and your highest section scores, and not any others, with the result that you no longer need to even submit any lower test scores before admission is determined.

In theory it wouldn’t matter, but it’s hard to unsee something. As you’re certain a superscore won’t involve the 1340, I wouldn’t send it.
