Should I send AP scores for admission?

I know schools like Yale specifically says that scores only need to be sent when students are accepted, but should I send my AP scores anyway, because I self studied those courses so they are not in my transcript.

AP scores carry little to no weight in college admissions. You can self-report your scores on the Common App. Sending your AP scores in advance of an acceptance is a waste of $ IMHO.

I think NYU will take a bunch of AP tests in lieu of SAT or ACT. They have several variety of tests they will take. Other than NYU, you self-report unless you had those scores sent free when you took the test. They don’t care until you are admitted. Universities have varying policies anyway regarding what they do with AP test results if you matriculate. Some give you elective credit, some waive certain entry-level courses, and so on.

Unless the school explicitly said they use AP scores for admission purpose, it would not have much impact in admission otherwise. When you request AP score report, it would be likely sent to the registrar office instead of admission office for obvious reason.
