Should I send in mid-year report in February?

For one thing, when does the evaluation process really end at MIT for the regular decision?

I'm planning to fax my February exam result to MIT which comes out between mid and late February, but say if MIT finishes its evaluation in mid February, then there's not much point in sending the mid-year report.

Please help

thanks

Hmmm... I'd definitely contact MIT about this, but my advice would be to go to your guidance counselor, and get them to write a letter that maybe includes your quarter grades, a little bit of a progress report, and why a true mid-year report isn't possible.

My advice is to definitely not wait, but MIT shouldn't hold your school's unique system against you.

Are you domestic or international?

Domestic selection begins every year around February 15, but international selection doesn't begin until somewhat later than that -- around March 1 or March 5, perhaps. So if you're a domestic student, mid-February is too late.

I would also suggest emailing or calling MIT to see what they'd like to have if your midyear grades don't come out in time.

I'm applying with my green card, so, I think I'm considered as a domestic?

Even so, molliebatmit, you said that the selection "begins" around Feb 15, right? So, wouldn't there be enough time for me to fax the result in if I specifically tell MIT the date my mid-year report comes out?

Any help?

thanks

i know this is off topic but the common app mid year report is different from MIT's. It's exactly like the school report so it has like the space to check boxes and a space for an evaluation (which MIT's doesn't). Is it necessary to have my counselor send another evaluation or do colleges just want the grades???

If your grades come out Feb 15, that will probably be too late, just because they're done reading all of the applications before they go to selection. But definitely contact the admissions office and see what they'd like you to do -- perhaps they will want you to fax it as soon as possible, and it will be put with your application as soon as it arrives. I genuinely don't know what they do in that situation.
