Should I send in my ACT score?

I got a 2160 on my SAT (710 R, 800M, 650W), and I thought that I might be able to supplement my dismal writing score with the ACT. But my ACT scores weren't exactly ideal...

I got a composite score of 32, with a 33 in English, 34 in Math and Reading, 27 on Science, and a 9 in Writing.

I'm not proud of my 27 and it might look strange to admissions officers, especially since I plan on majoring in something science related. But I did get a great score on SAT II Biology....However, I feel like the 33 in Eng and 34 in Reading are worth reporting.

Should I send these scores in? I already sent in my SAT scores, so ACT scores would just be supplementary.

Thanks.

No need to send act score

I disagree. I think it may add another dimension to your application. Schools will only look at you in the best light.

You must submit all scores (SAT, SAT Subject Tests, and ACT) from all test dates. From the Columbia website:

“Standardized tests are required for admission according to the following guidelines; all test scores must be submitted directly to Columbia by the testing agency. Please note that Columbia requires that students submit scores from all test dates.”

You must send your ACT scores.

No one follows those rules anymore.

^what are you talking about? yes, you technically have to send it. even if you didn’t have to, i think you should. according to my college counselor, as well as other sources i’ve heard from, schools don’t care very much about the science section, and since your other scores great, it will only help you.

Sigh. I know this thread is stale but, GreedIsGood, I’ll give you another direct quote from the OFFICIAL Columbia website:

"Columbia has always expected applicants to report all required standardized testing for which they have sat and will continue to do so for 2010-2011.The application review process for Columbia College and The Fu Foundation School of Engineering and Applied Science is rooted in the belief that students are dynamic, multi-faceted individuals who cannot be defined by any single factor to determine their suitability for admission. When evaluating applicants, we consider only the highest testing results reported from individual sections of the SAT (or the highest Composite on the ACT), and the two highest required SAT Subject Tests, always seeking to give students the greatest opportunity to showcase their academic talents and hoping to make the testing experience as stress-free as possible. We encourage applicants to take those examinations no more than twice, but we do not penalize applicants for exceeding that recommendation.

Students should officially submit all scores from all sittings of the SAT and SAT Subject Tests. Students may submit only their highest ACT composite score officially and self-report other ACT scores by adding them to the Additional Information section of the application. While the College Board sends a cumulative record of all testing for one fee, the ACT requires separate fees for each test date; we do not want ACT takers to incur greater costs, so applicants may officially report only their highest ACT Composite (with subscores) and self-report all other ACT scores."

Folks, don’t listen to disinformation.
