Should I send in my SAT as well or just my ACT?

SAT: 1450/2250....aka a 650, 800, and 800. Ouch.
ACT: 35

I already sent in my ACT score, but am not sure if I should send in my SAT score in as well since it's not very good. Should I just send in my SAT subject test scores, or also my SAT reasoning score even though it's not very good?

Your SAT score is great, imo. I don’t understand why people think 2200’s are bad. Your ACT is even better though, I don’t see the point in sending in both.

2200’s are EXTREMELY BAD if your scores are 800, 800, and 600’s. But would they understand that I had a bad day and didn’t feel like retaking a 2250?

2200s are not EXTREMELY bad. that is just ridiculous. i got into yale EA with a very lopsided 34 composite on the ACT (29 M, 36 CR + Sci + W), and a 29 is sub-700 if one uses the SAT-ACT conversion chart. don’t be silly.

if you feel more comfortable, just send the ACT. either way, trust me, it won’t kill you, particularly if you have a particular area of interest which is not in your higher-scoring areas (e.g., i’m a writer, and i have zero math-involved extracurriculars).

I would be hesitant, however, to compare Yale and Princeton with regards to standardized testing. Yale, I believe, is much more arbitrary in their admissions decisions and are a little more lax on test scores than Pton. However, in your case, I still believe the 35 is all the you should send in.

^there was an asian female with a 32 who was admitted to princeton last year on this board. i don’t think either school is at all “lax” on their test scores; lopsided test scores may in some cases be acceptable at either place. it depends on the applicant.

why do you get the impression yale is more arbitrary? i’ve looked at actual results threads for both, and to me while both appear less subjective than, for instance, stanford, there are some pretty subjective decisions and some pretty predictable ones on both threads.

@Rtgrove: you go to elkhorn? i know someone at elkhorn! small world.

Haha ya i got to Elkhorn right now…thats pritty crazy! Anyway, Idk I have always been told that the two most score obsessed ivies are Dartmouth and Princeton. I just looked at the results threads briefly and it appeared that that assumption was correct…I may, of course, be wrong though.

^i’ve heard that, but i think princeton is still very holistic.

princeton is more relaxed with their test courses in my opinion… when i went to pton, they said they gave equal consideration to test scores, essays, ECs, etc… so they compare test scores to essays as equal.

So, to answer your question, just send your ACT and dont worry about your SAT. However, I am also a 2014er so all of my opinion is from self analysis and research.
