Took a 4 weeks science/lab summer course for HS students at an Ivy and received an A- and 2 great evaluation letters (no official transcript or grade give for this program) from the class instructors. Should I send them to other Ivies and colleges as a supplement recommendations and/or EC ? Any opinions if other Ivies/colleges would view me negatively since I did not select to them for the summer program?

My son went to a summer program at Columbia, but didn't apply there. He sent a copy of the evaluation letter since it was extremely flattering. I don't think schools care at all whether you go to their own summer schools. Our son went to Columbia because he could commute.

The Ivies don't care whether you go to their summer programs, so send your great evals and grades to colleges that you apply to.

Yes, definitely send it. It shows your interest in outside-of-school stuff. Doesn't really matter where you did the work. It would certainly add postive info to your application.

Thank you all for your advices.

Yes, definitely send it to those who allow it, my d went to yale summer as a rising sr. She didn't apply there either, but we still thought it helped to show academic passion and she included it where appropriate on her apps. She also wrote about it for one where they asked about intellectual pursuits outside of school. It seemed to work well, and she got into 9/10.

Definitely send it. Don't believe the crap about "the thicker the app, the thinner the applicant." My S believed that and sent the recommended 2 reqs when applying to Yale SCEA. His classmate who got in sent FOUR. Obviously, he was rewarded, not punished. If the eval is from someone who is actually familiar with you and your work, send it. In particular, if the eval addresses an interest of yours that you pursue outside of regularly-available HS courses, I'd send it.
