should i fill questionnaires to colleges right now. im in track and field and i want to see if i can get recruited for UCSD and other colleges. i have the times in the 300m hurdles (the qualifying times)but i dont know if i should send the letter to them now or wait for CIF to be over. what do u think i should do?

help please?

I think you should send info now, and then update it when CIF is done. My daughter is going of to play D-1 soccer in the fall and our experience was that it may take more than one contact before the coach responds. Are you a junior?

yes im a junior.
also, what happens if i dont have the ncaa clearinghouse id? should i still send info.?

I think you should contact coaches even without the NCAA clearinghouse registration. We never had a coach look at it or even ask about it until she was invited to an official visit,

ok thank u very much!!

Without a doubt, fill out the questionnaire, Junior or Senior. Sophmore may be pushing it
unless you are competing at a very high level . Many non revenue sports ( Even D1) do not have the big recruiting budgets. Some only recruit regionally or through camps. Don’t forget D2 ( they also give scholarships). The NCAA clearinghouse only binds the coaches from contacting the student athlete, not the other way around. Hope this helps.

Fill out the online form and also send a personal note introducing yourself to the coach. If you have good grades and test scores, list them in your letter.

Make a sports resume, has sports stuff and academic stuff. Check with your HS to see if they have copies of any folks who have gotten recruited so you can look at a successful sports resume, then modify it to fit you. For Div 1 follow the rules on contact.

Send in the questionnaire and your player/sports profile now. It is not too early if you are a sophomore. Our area is in the midst of track conference and sectionals meets. Lots of college coaches watching and recording times of sophomores.

This might be useful:http://www.ncsasports.org/recruiting-tools/track/mens-track-recruiting-guidelines

The resume you send should include: SAT, ACT, 3 SAT IIs (for top tier schools), class rank, H.S. transcript, major track and field results- city, district, state, regional finishes, times (preferably Fully Automated Times). If times are hand-timed, coaches will add .5 seconds to adjust, which makes a big difference for 300 & 110 Hurdles, or other sprints.

If you have a video or CD of your races, they are happy to see it. Good luck!

thanks guys!! ur info will help me a lot!
