Should I send my ACT Scores a year early?

<p>I'm a junior and I will be taking the ACT on Feb. 8th.</p>

<p>If I'm pretty sure I'll be applying to a college next year, will sending them my ACT scores now, unsolicited, mean that I won't have to send them again when I've begun the application process? </p>

<p>Yes if you send them now, you don’t have to send them again in the fall. Yes, the colleges have a method for dealing with this. Yes, it’s a good deal because it is free. I’m not sure if colleges offer a “score choice” whereby you can pick a particular test result to send to the college. If they do, then some strategists will wait until all of their testing is over and then decide in the fall of sr yr which scores they are sending to which colleges. If you choose this strategy, you are forfeiting your free score reports and have to pay to have them sent in the fall. </p>

<p>No. You can send the score any time ahead of the application. My D only took ACT once which was in March of her junior year. She ended up applying to 2 of the 4 schools she put down for free score report 7-9 months later.</p>

<p>We were advised to only send the highest scores. Adviser said that some colleges would look at the trend or look for patterns in testing. If your scores went nowhere and stayed the same, or worse went down this would be a negative perhaps. If you feel confident this won’t be you, send them. </p>

If you do enough practice test and has reached a plateau in practice score, you should not expect any big surprise anyway. It would be safe to sent the free score anywhere in this case. One should always treat the test you are taking to be the last (or only) attempt.</p>
