Should I send my SAT scores??

I have registered for the SAT December, and SAT January, and they proposed me to send my scores to four colleges for FREE. They charge $9 after for each colleges you want to send scores to (which is quite expensive).
I'm still a junior, but I have a pretty good idea of what colleges I am certain to apply to.
1. Will it hurt if I send a low score?
2. How does the process of sending scores as a junior works? (Does the college keep the score until I apply to it senior year?)
3. Should I even send my score? What disadvantages can I have if I send my scores to a college (supposing it is not my highest score)?

Please help! I'm so confused by all those college stuff.
Thanks for reading.

SAT score reports include every SAT you've ever taken. So if you get a low score and decide to retake, colleges will still see the original low score on your score report. It doesn't hurt you any more if you send it for free now versus paying $9 to send it later.

Yes - they'll hang on to your scores and open a file for you.

If you get a low score and decide to retake, colleges will see all your scores anyway, so it can't hurt you more to send it now as opposed to later. They'll be more interested in your later, (hopefully) higher score than in your original low score. The only way it could be a disadvantage is if your score is so low that you decide not to use SAT scores at all, and to take the ACT instead, or apply to SAT-optional schools - then they'd already have your SAT scores in your file.

Thanks for the clear answer.

No problem - and good luck on the SAT!

Also, think about if you are going to take the SATs (either Reasoning or Subject Tests) again after January. If you are, you can always wait until a later time to use the four free score reports. If you designate 4 schools on the December test, you will end up having to send the scores to those colleges AGAIN after the January test or a future test date. Just something to keep in mind.
