Should I send, retake, or let it go?

Hi
I sat December math level II in which I got 730 and physics which I got 710.

Only Cornell which I’m applying to requires scores but the others such as Stanford, Yale, etc simply recommend subject tests or leave it as an option. As I see it, I have three options: 1. I send the scores. 2. I retake for better scores and 3. I simply not send scores, and hope Cornell likes them.

What do you guys recommend?

send those scores and indicate that you are going to retake it. those are great scores anyways.

by the way, theres one thing that makes me nervous, will they accept january scores?

I would send them. Those are very good scores!

To put them in context, the math score is 55th percentile, and physics is 58th. The curves are harsh on those two subjects. I guess I’d send to Cornell because it is what you have. Will they even accept a later score? You are supposed to send all scores to Stanford if you took them, same with Yale.

I guess the pool of students taking SAT IIs is mostly self-selective.

@intparent Yale has an updated policy on SAT Subject tests. From its current admissions page, it states: “Yale does participate in Score Choice for the reporting of SAT Subject Tests. You may wait to receive your score results before deciding which scores, if any, you would like to send to Yale…If you are submitting all of your ACT with writing results, you may send whatever SAT Subject Tests you like and you are not required to submit any SAT scores.” Thus, students can send in only those scores they would like the adcom to consider. Hope this helps.

Okay. Then the OP can decide (assuming Yale takes January results).

FYI for the OP, schools that “recommend” subject tests usually say that to let internationals who have a very hard time scheduling & affording the tests off the hook. But they expect most applicants to take them.
