hey yall should i send my SAT 1350 or
ACT scores ( 30 composite)??
I asked my counsellor and he said the act scores are better but i checked barnard’s 2021 profile and it says that the average sat for the middle 50% is 1300-1450 so im like not at the very bottom of it
while the average act is 30-33 so im at the bottom??
“the bottom” refers to the bottom of the mid 50’th range, or about 25th percentile. Just to be clear. You are not at teh bottom of all scores submitted.
A 1350 is right below a 30 ACT; conversely, the 30 ACT concords to about a 1370. So your counselor is correct - but it’s close. Most schools seeing both these scores would view them to be about the same. Submitting a score that is above the 25th percentile makes sense, but you’ll probably want to look at your EBRW and Math subscores and find out how they compare to those accepted to Barnard.
You should submit both for two reasons. When you submit both, the college will use that one it believes is higher, so let it make the choice when you are not sure which is better. The second reason is that Barnard requires you to submit both all SAT and all ACT scores that you have. See https://admissions.barnard.edu/apply-barnard/standardized-testing-and-our-score-choice-policy
There is no extra cost for submitting both because Barnard now allows self-reporting your scores in the application.
