Should I send sat's?

I’m wondering if my SAT scores would help or hurt my application. Right now, the only score I’ve reported to Brown is my ACT score of 35. If you submit the ACT, the SATII’s aren’t required. I have SAT II scores of 760 Writing, 740 US History, and 710 Math Level 2. I also have an SAT I score of 1430 (760V, 670M). Should I send these or just let my ACT score stand alone?

If I were you, I wouldn't send in the SAT scores. 1430 isn't a particularly high score for Brown, but your ACT score is.

I agree wholeheartedly.

yup. your sat scores are fine, but a 35 is amazing!! so you probably shouldn't let anything detract from that.

Besides, it just costs extra money.

Good point.

Thanks guys. I was pretty much thinking the same thing. So you don't think the absence of SAT II's would make me look bad? I'm from rural Minnesota, where nobody even takes the SAT I, but I just don't want to take any chances.

I don't think that they would hold the SAT scores against you at all. In fact, they will probably want the writing score, right? I don't think that sending the SAT scores would hurt you, but it may not be worth it.

If I understand correctly, Brown doesn't require applicants to send in SAT scores?

Sorry for intruding, but I'm a Brown hopeful as well....I'd really appreciate it if someone could explain this to me......

you either take the SAT I and 3 SAT II subject test
-or- the ACT

as long as you have one of them, you're absolutely fine.

I've decided not to send them. The 760 Writing was actually on my transcript. Unfortunately, so was the 1430 SAT I, but I'm hoping the ACT will make up for it. I don't think a 740 and 710 (especially for the IIC) will make me look like a stronger applicant. Thanks to all who replied

the scores aren't bad anyway

...they were all higher than mine ;)

thanks starryeyedgirl :)
