I got second place in a national music composition contest and I was wondering if I should submit the recording and sheet music of the piece. I don't know if the college admissions people will find me arrogant, or just not care. Should I send them in?

recording yes. sheet music, NO.

Thanks. that makes sense.

That is for Cornell. However, if applying to other schools, I recommend checking to see if they want the actual score.

This year, my son was asked specifically, via email, by several top schools to send the score as well. If applying for any composition programs, I would check to make sure exactly what they want. If I remember correctly, Cornell just has an email you send things to and they ask you send only one file.

I should add he was also specifically asked to describe the piece, genre, and a couple other questions. That was about a 100 - 150 word essay for those. I am pretty sure that was done through Slideroom.

My son sent the recordings and scores via Slideroom to all other schools. Costs about $5 to $10 a shot to submit. Now, if you are only doing a performance major, then the score would not be needed.
