Should I Send This ACT Score???

Obviously I’ll talk with my counselor about this as well, but want to get some opinion here too.

In October I got a 33 on the ACT (36 E, 35 M, 32 R, 29 S).

In December I got a 32 (35 E, 30 M, 31 R, 31 S).

Should I send my December score?? My 31 science would bring my super score to a 34, but most of the schools I’ll be applying to do not officially super score. Also, my math went WAY down which concerns me even more to send my December score even with the increase in science.

My intended major will be along the lines of journalism/english if that helps. I know the 31 science will look better, but I don’t think it outweighs the 35 to 30 drop in math. ALSO- I know you should send all scores if your composite increases, but in this case my composite DECREASED, which could also be a red flag.

Thanks for any advice

I would’t send the December score since every score is higher on your October test except your science which is only 2 points lower and your math score did drop by a lot.

But colleges say they only care about the top score. Is that true or not?? @Ezekiel17

For most colleges, the top Composite score is what they care about. If a college superscores then send the newer one.

Depends on the school(s). The best composite score is the most common measure, but several schools also look at the highest subsection score from all sittings.

People keep saying it depends on the school so I should probably add that my top two options are Northwestern and U of Michigan.

I know both those schools don’t officially superscore but they do say they look at subscores of different tests.

However, I do not know if that means they only care about the top subscore for each section or do they downgrade you if one subscore is far lower than another for the same section on separate tests (such as my 35 on one Math but 30 on another Math). Also, would they really care that much about an increase in science from 29 to 31, especially considering my intended major is English/Journalism?

If it was up to me I wouldn’t submit the 32. Every score is lower except science which is only 2 points higher and your reading and English scores are both stronger on the 33 C.

What did you counselor say?

@Ezekiel17 I just e-mailed her to schedule a meeting but I haven’t met with her yet. I’m leaning towards not sending it though.

So my counselor said I should send both and that schools only care about the top scores for each test/section, meaning they won’t care if I dropped from a 35 to 30 in Math as they will only care about the 35. However, I am still wary. Should I still send both? @Ezekiel17 I mean this all assuming I don’t do better in February on the ACT but I’m just saying if these were my only two scores
